Leadership La Plata (LLP), the diverse, all-volunteer organization designed to educate and train community leaders from throughout the county, has announced its new class for 2011-2012.
The LLP Selection Committee – comprises of Diane Becket, Nancy Wharton, Buck Skillen, Greg Vlaming and Steve Barkley – selected 18 candidates from a highly qualified field of dynamic individuals.
New class members are Scott Baker (Pine River Community Learning Center), Bill Bishop (Bayfield School District), Elizabeth Bussian (Fort Lewis College), Jill Carithers (Pueblo Community Center), Gregory Childress (Durango Fire & Rescue Authority), Tracy Cornutt (Big Brothers Big Sisters of SW Colorado), Miriam Gillow-Wiles (Town of Ignacio), Scott Hagler (St. Mark’s Episcopal Church), Heather Hormell (Mercury Payment Systems).
Rounding out the class are Charles Kier (Vectra Bank), Danielle Kirkpatrick (Durango Herald), Heather Knight (Durango Area Tourism Office), Kim McNulty (Durango Mountain Resort) and Chris Nelson (La Plata County Humane Society), Ryan Siggins (Qualified Performance, PC), Andrew Snow (Nini’s Taqueria), Amy Testa (Advantage Physical Therapy), and Mark Thompson (Phoenix Recycling).
Now in its 24th year, LLP provides leadership skills training and broad-based education covering all facets of the community. More than 360 LLP graduates are currently engaged in community leadership roles, from business and local government to non-profit agencies.
